We made it all the way from Denver to Rhode Island in 10 days. Oh what a fun! The start was little bit rough driving 16 hours from Denver to Nashville stopping only for gas.
… Staying in Nashville was definitely relief and a lot of fun. Mr. D's brother who lives in Nashville took us to the downtown to taste the music scene a little bit...
...and little bit of wrestling in a bar of course...
...we found a copy of the Greek Partheon in the park ...
...and we watched Darren's brother (red jersey) playing at the final game...
Next stop was Atlanta, Georgia visiting some of Darren's colleagues. We didn't meet all of them but I had the honor to finally meet the author of my frog logo - Manda - in person! She brought us to a great sushi place for dinner and before we said goodbye she directed us to a great coffee shop to get some caffeine before we head out and continue our roadtrip!
...entering Atlanta was definitely not fun...
...We made it to North Carolina the next day and walked through the rooms in the Biltmore estate previously belonging to the American royalty George W Vanderbilt II and it was a treat walking through the past...
...and seeing the Vanderbilt's beautiful gardens with thousands of tulips in full bloom and wine tasting later that day was even bigger treat...
...still in North Carolina... we made it to Great Smoky mountains National Park and they were really smoky:)...
...on the way to DC we tried to make it more interesting than staying on the highway so we hit it through the Shenandoah valley in Virginia. Washington Irving found it 'equal to the promised land in fertility, and far superior to it in beauty,' while Herbert Hoover, riding horseback along the crest of the Blue Ridge, said 'These mountains are made for a road'... interesting thoughts... but, I will just call the valley beautifully open...
...Little Inn built in 1749 in 'little' Washington, Virginia might be called the most romantic country hotel in world...there were candles everywhere...
We made it to Washington, DC on Wednesday and we decided not continuing to Vermont right the way but staying longer and enjoying more time with our friends...
...we walked our friend's dog couple blogs and found some great houses. This will be my house one day. Isn't this one just lovely??? I just love the fire red door...
...I definitely enjoyed the Washington DC Zoo… and met one of my my best friends who just got a baby girl recently and finally I had chance to see her (pics later)...
...flamingos are great models by the way...
…Our friends in DC invited us to make a little trip to Charlottesville town were Thomas Jefferson built his dream house and founded 'the academical village' and the top-ranked University of Virginia...
...and we had the opportunity to see the whole university at the Foxfield Races...
... colorful dresses, hats, and rubber boots were everywhere...
...and a chicken... wait.. A chicken?... well, it was a fun party:)...
...I told you...those rubber boots were everywhere:)...
See you tomorrow!
