This little mouse I used on the red card and my mom got for her stores are so adorable that I had to steal couple from her. They have a little foam sticker on the back so they are perfectly made for card use:)
Got metal mesh from my mom in 3 wonderful colors (well I repossess it when she brought it home, hehe) and I used the red one to form a heart for the card below. The red material inside the mesh is actually a artificial net which is usually used for packing fruit, this time mandarines:) I knew I will find the way to use it one day:)
And on the end, these cards express the love with flower power! Again, I used the flowers I got from my cousin, I love these things, so useful to have them!!! I put so much love in every petal:))))

I was trying to make a Valentines card for my love this weekend but still wasn't able to finish it. I think I need to start again, which is really sad and means to destroy more material but I guess I will risk it:)) I am without inspiration these days and when I actually have and idea and start something I am not happy with the result. So, what I actually will show you today is couple of my old love cards I made through the years (some of them are really old).

I just went through my pictures and I realized that I forgot to show you couple cards I made before Christmas. You know - the preparation for the season was hectic!!! No Christmas theme though:)) I had two birthdays I had to cover (my mom's and my best friend's) and was fed up with cold and winter. I decided to concentrate more on something warmer, perhaps butterflies:))). Here we go...
This card was really tough one - my first project where I actually decided to use a sewing machine. It was hard I can tell you. I inherited mine from my mom and I think this sewing 'miracle' was already old when she was using it:))) The machine is my curse - it is very slow and it always get stuck. But, when I start something than I always finish it. Well, that is not completely true, at least I am trying to finish all of my projects. Ok, ok, I managed to finish only some of them - the rest is unfortunately hiding in my drawer or box or closet waiting to be done:)) Oh well, who says that doing craft is easy?!?!
I was pretty cheap on used materials. Just paper, tread, and little bit of electricity to kick on the sewing machine:)))
I used a plastic butterfly template that I got with couple others that came together with a crafting magazine. Pretty useful these things!
The card also has two versions. Wasn't sure which writing should I use - rub on or sticker saying 'Happy Birthday'. The sticker won!
The other card, the motif is also a butterfly, was also harassed with sewing machine. This time it was little bit funny too. First, I saw the pink rectangle paper to the card and was careful enough to remember that I have to open the card before I start to sew those two papers together and prevent sewing both front and back page of the base card together. I guess I was thinking about something else when I started with the butterflies. Guess what happen... you are guessing right... the back page of the card has couple wholes to cover, haha...
I also used couple fabric flower I got from my cousin Marianne and put metal eyelets in the middle of each. These flowers are awesome by the way! Can't wait to use them in other projects:))
This time, I made my own pattern. I draw different shapes of a butterfly first, on a white paper using a pencil than I picked the one I liked the most and cut it out. I transferred the butterfly on a pattern paper. I am really big fan of these papers - they are from Martha Stewart of course - anyways, the colors and design is pretty neat don't you thing??? Loving it!!!

Yesterday, I spent the whole day snowboarding with my friends on the Austrian hills. It was awesome! The slopes were completely empty and the day was just beautiful. I only had my cellphone with me, so the pictures are not that great.
Here are couple pictures I took recently while Darren was driving:)). We made a trip to Red Stone castle here in Slovakia, and on the way we had to pass the Baba (Old Lady) mountain to get there. This was the view - frozen everything - beautiful!!!
I did it again - I am in a challenge - Whimsy's Flower Power Challenge!!! You can find more details on denises-stamping-page. I am competing with my last Birthday card project with the frozen sunflower. Hold your thumbs for me:)))
Today, I was putting down our Christmas tree (sad I know) and I took couple pictures of my last minute tree ornaments that I did just before the Christmas day and decided to show them to you. It is little bit late I know but maybe I can inspire you for next season:)))
These are also a quick and easy project for kids to make - use gold case from Toffifee box (children can help you with eating the chocolate), roll it, and staple it. And voala, we have an easy, cheap, and fancy looking Christmas tree ornament:))

This is an ornament I posted about before. This one can't be more easy! The tools you need is toilet paper role, sharp craft knife, glue, gold spray paint, and some inspiration:)))

As you can see, this Christmas I decided to decorate the tree in gold accents. I found these old artificial poinsettia flowers in our basement lying around unused. The only thing I had to do is changing the color a little bit - a little of gold spray paint and some gold glitters definitely helped. Perfect!!!

What a beautiful January we have - all that snow outside (I was freezing my butt on the bus stop yesterday) and new polished Euros we can use now (try to pay for a bus ticket, the machine spit out all my new shiny coins 3 times in the row!). This is the way how it starts in Slovakia this year! Not sure if I like it:(
So, my first week of January 2009 started with new currency headache and couple Birthday cards that I need to finish as soon as possible but later about that. As one of the EU countries also Slovakia got the honor to use the Euro this year for the first time. I can say that I miss our old money and I am kinda sad just because I bought this wonderful green leather wallet on Nuntucket Island existing with no wallet at all for 7 years (you can imagine me looking for any money through my pockets and in my purse before) and now I can't even use it because I don't have space for all that annoying tiny heavy cents. Now, I should probably get a big money bag and carry it on my back:))
It is really weird to get use to new money again (when we split with Czech Rep. both countries got new money) but this time it is more complex I guess. Recently, I was in a coffee shop with my friends and it was pretty funny to pay for our bill by leaving all the towers of coins on the table. I wonder who had the great idea to make us carry more metal in our wallets!!! Did anybody hear about paper money??? I guess I have to get used to it or maybe start to swipe my plastic more often:))) Did I tell you I hate credit cards too, haha.
Our addition to the Euro coins family with official symbols of Slovakia...
But, enough about money talk and let's get back to my Birthday boy and girl. This week project is to finish two fancy cards for two really important people. One is for Darren who is having birthday on Friday and I won't be able to be with him on his special day (he went back home, sad I know) - therefore, the card needs to be really special:)). The other one is for my college friend who is having her birthday tomorrow. I can show you the card for my friend as she gets her card next day. Darren's card will be shown to you little bit later as this card needs to be send and I don't want to spoil the surprise:)))
Sunflower card with ice frosting
Found the artificial flower laying around in our flower store. There was no use for it as it was a missing piece from a bouquet that was already gone, so I cut the stem to get the bottom more flat and glue it to the square of red paper I used as a base.
I also made the ice frosting around the edge (it's true we still have January) using a white stamp color and a square stamp sprinkling some white shimmer on the wet color.
And, here we go - frozen sunflower card!!! Let me know how do you like it:))
Pine cone flower card
Here is another flower card I made today ( I really miss spring!). I used pine cone for the flower petals and put a silver gem in the middle.
I used white shimmer again (I am starting to like this stuff more and more) on the edge of the top green square paper and allowed myself this time to apply one of the treasured adhesive ribbons from Martha Stewart that I bought last summer in the US. I love Martha:)))
And here is the full view. Still having feeling that something is missing and the card seems to be undone. I might update the card and add some writing later:)))

I wish Happy New Year to everybody!!! Hopefully, you all enjoyed the New Year's Eve (or Silvester as we call it in Slovakia) as much as I did:))) Darren and me went out with couple of our friends, and we saw a great fireworks (much better than last year) and ate Gypsie food (again) on the square afterward while dancing to Slovak pop music:))) fun, fun, fun ... As I promised I am posting couple pics from our trip to London, which was a blast. We really enjoyed it a lot! London is definitely a great place to be - very nice people, beautiful architecture, lovely British pubs, awesome galleries (Darren was exhausted), stores I will miss a lot (again, Darren was exhausted), and yummy fish&chips:)))
