July 02, 2011The Open Studio Weekend in Vermont is 'a must be seen event' and I will tell you why. One of the many reasons to be a part of this event is to learn and see something new... maybe a new technique, maybe to find a new inspiration, or maybe to see a wonderful artist Marylin Syme... deeply devoted to her work and every detail in it. After many years of painting and designing gift items Marylin traveled to Tuscany, Italy to study the art of woodcuts and decided to take the challenge on creating woodcut prints by herself. We found her on the top of her converted barn studio with high wood ceiling full of her colored prints hanging on the walls. We listened to the whole process of wood cuts real carefully... me probably less as I was taking tons of pictures and admiring the press that was taking the whole corner of the studio... (when I grow up I'll have one of those as well:) I was impressed with Marilyn's energy, patience, and the easiness she masters the art technique. Definitely worth of stopping to explore her art gallery and the place where all the magic happens:)
