flower design.

I wanted to show you more of the flower creations that we make for our stores. I took them outside to take a picture as there wasn't good light inside, so the back ground is not that great.

Here are some Calia flowers with Hortensia as the base (all artificial or dry flowers).

We got some of this cute little pots covered in tree skin. They are just great for decorating a table, maybe at a wedding.

I just love sunflowers! It is such a happy flower. Here it's used an artificial one with dry out tropical Proteas (red flowers in the back on the right). If they don't get sold in the store, we dry them out. They look pretty good in a dry condition. Don't you think so?

and I also took a picture of one of our stores. You can see only part of it and it's also in weird colors (I tried one of the color effects I have on my camera). Looks interesting.

gotcha!

And again, I was abusing one of our frogs today. I found the little creature while I was watering the flowers in our garden. He jumped on me unexpectedly. So, he basically asked for a photo-shooting:) I assure you that it was fun for him... well maybe the first minutes... and not the additional half hour I used him for:) Let's say that this is the payment the little green froggies have to deal with when they wanna live in our pool - dealing with me being crazy about frogs and my camera:) Have a great week!!!

getting inspiration

I found this great website - Creative Park by Canon. There are projects from different areas like Gift&Cards, Paper craft, Scrapbook, Art, Calenders, and has even a photo gallery from which you can print high-quality pictures.
So many great projects, especially the pop-up cards for every occasions. All the patterns are in color too. I found a lot of inspiration here and now I don't know what to do first:) Enjoy!

Card

invitation in progress.

So, I'm making some progress with the wedding invitations I blogged about on Sunday. My friend choose completely different style, let's call it a square style:) I believe it is more simple and elegant with more vibrant colors. Here is a little peek to show you what I'm dealing with right now. We still have a lot of stuff to do - as we need to choose the size of the card, the font and the text. For now I'm covered in squares of orange and yellows!

Card

wedding card.

One of Darren's friend was getting married and I made card to send as we didn't have the chance to attend the event. I hope they enjoyed it:).

The string wrapped around the card is holding the white card with the leave and the verse on the front hiding an envelope on the back to put money in.

The butterfly is hand stamped on a sheer paper with gold stamp color and than cut out. The edge of the middle, gold square is embossed to add some dimension.

The gold paper, dotted white paper, and the envelope is from Paper-Source store in Boston, my most favorite store in world! I could shop there for hours and it is not even that big:)

DIY

forgotten Valentine.

I completely forgot about the present I made for Mr. D on Valentine's Day. You know, I had to send it to the other side of the world. Then waited until he gets it because we don't want to spoil the surprise until he gets it. And, than I totally forgot to blog about it. Now we have April and I guess it is time to show it off. The hard is made out of fleece, stuffed with dry lavender and the ribbon is caring a 'Whoo' tag with a love note. Lovely!

I just LOVE videos that spread a positive spirit around. Improve everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in random, public places. Their projects happen all over the NY City and bring smiles to people's faces. This is a great video that made me smile. I hope it makes your day too!

Invitation

wedding.

This is what I work on now - wedding invitations. Take a glimpse at my selection that I prepared for my colleague, Romana. She is getting married in August and asked me to make some invitations for her, like 70 of them. So, I made couple versions to choose from. I love the turquoise and orange-red handmade paper from India the most that I found in a store here in Slovakia! You can take a little snoop:)

Here is a piece of garden on my balcony. I am still working on our big one downstairs ... lots of work ... a lot! So, you have to be patient to see the pictures of beautiful, blooming garden. mother's day getting closer.

I can't believe it's almost May and we have a very important date to celebrate in this month. Well, not me as I am not a mother or let's say not yet:). I am already thinking about a present I want to give my mom. Usually, I don't buy it but rather make her something special. I still don't have an idea what should I create but I will brainstorm in these upcoming days a lot I think as I totally forgot her nameday last time. Yes, we celebrate namedays in Slovakia! Weird, I know but it is fun and you have one more reason to get a present in a year which is AWESOME! But, I forgot my mom's nameday this year. So, I need a really great surprise for her special day.
Here are couple pics of the creations from the last season.

Easter

making a wreath.

How about making a wreath today? I put some pictures with instructions up here to make your own. It's very simple and it looks like the one you can get from a store but this one was made almost for free. The material we need is floral wire, wire cutters, couple twigs from the garden and pliers to cut the twigs. Let's do this! | Čo tak si spraviť vlastný veniec? Dala som sem malý návod ako si jeden spraviť. Je to veľmi jednoduché a na rozdiel od tých kupovaných tento veniec skoro nič nestojí len trocha námahy. Materiál ktorí potrebujeme je floristický drôtik ale hocijaký mäkší drôt bude fungovať, nožnice na drôt, niekoľko konárikov zo záhrady a záhrádne nožnice na strihanie. Tak len do toho!

First, pick a thicker twig - this will be your base. Cut a small piece of wire and tide the small circle made out of the twig ...

... continue to wrap the end of the twig around the thick base ...

... take additional twigs and continue to wrap them all around the circle ...

... continue until you are happy with the size of the wreath...

... to make the wrapping easier, you can put the twigs into the water for a while to make them more flexible before using them ...

... on the end, tuck all the little pieces nicely to make it smooth ...

... and, here is the final product. So, wasn't it easy!?!?

You can use additional material to decorate it. I used this heart I made a while ago out of coconut treads and red floral wire. But later about that:)

Book

my new treasures.

I love my trips to the States! I always get something what I really wanted!!! Like the book 'Printing by Hand' from Lena Corwin or a glittering tray from Micheal's that were on my Wists list. I already used the tray - very useful I can tell you that. I don't know what I was doing before the tray. Probably was messy, well I still am but in a better way:) And, I can't wait to try some printing techniques from the book. I just have to make my grandpa to make me a wooden frame for the screen and I will be unstoppable with printing on stuff all around me. I can't forget to mention my super-great Gorillapod that was on my Wists list as well and got it as a Christmas gift from my awesome future mother in law!!! But, I got it just now because my hubby forgot to bring it when he came over for Christmas:( He kept me away from this great tool for so long! Now, I can be sooo creative with my little camera:)
