Mr. D says I am a magazine and book hoarder and sadly I have to admit that he might be right. But, I don't tell him that do I!? Something about books/magazines and owning a nice pile of them really makes me happy. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I can download tons of books and magazines with a click of the button to my iPad anytime I want and even for free! But... well... a big, fat BUT is proper to write here, holding a printed version and going through the pages, feeling the paper underneath the fingers is so different than browsing through the electronic pages. Here is how my Monocle love started. While living in New York I stumble upon the Monocle store and all their publications - the amazing magazine and of course the books. The first one I purchased was the original and entertaining Monocle Guide to Better Living with the cheery yellow cover. This is not a book about glamour but rather upbeat overview of products and ideas how to live well; structured into chapters on the city, culture, travel, food, and work. Vlastniť kopu kníh a časopisov ma naplňuje detinskou radosťou. Nemyslíte si, že neocením možnosť sťahovania publikácií na môj iPad trebárs aj o pol noci a to ešte k tomu zadarmo. Ale... a to píšem veľké, tučné ALE, držať či už to je kniha alebo magazín a listovať farebné stránky, cítiť hrúbku papiera pod prstami je úplne iný pocit. Takto nejako začal môj príbeh s Monocle. Ked' sme strávili nejaký ten čas v New Yorku narazila som na našich pravidelných potulkách na Monocle obchod a ich print publikácie.
